What to Expect from Regular Sauna Use, Infrared Sauna Lake Tahoe

Monday, January 28th, 2019

Sauna bathing is a popular activity that most people enjoy. Why? It feels great and is an excellent way to improve health and wellness.

Here are three incredible health benefits that come from regular sauna use.

Eliminate Unhealthy, Elevated Stress
Untreated stress can lead to health issues, that’s why relaxing a few minutes in the sauna is a sensible and practical lifestyle choice. The sauna is the one place at home where you can truly relax.

Encourage Healthy Sleep
Insomnia is nothing new. Rather than reaching for sleep aids, why not spend a few relaxing minutes in the sauna? With regular use, rejuvenating sleep comes naturally so you can be your best.

Sweat Out Dangerous Toxins
A deep, invigorating sweat is actually very healthy, and a smart way to rid the body of damaging lead, mercury and zinc. High heat from the sauna encourages perspiration. The result? A healthy, cleansing experience from the comfort of home.

So Go Ahead, Soak in a Sauna, You Deserve It!
It’s fast, fun and relaxing. Not only that, it’s good for the body, soothes the mind and can improve your overall health and well-being.

Hot Tubs, Swim Spas Lake Tahoe Dealer Shares Tips for Living Healthier in the New Year

Monday, January 28th, 2019

“For most people, the goals they set on New Year’s Eve are really things they’d like to do, but they can’t find the strength to keep up with them after just a few days’ time.,” said Scott Clark, president of The Spa and Sauna Company.

One of the best things a person can do for themselves and their families is to install a hot tub in the home or backyard. Wherever the hot tub is, it has a multitude of benefits, and can help people live healthier and better in the New Year. Here are a few ways a hot tub can help people meet their goals:

A Portable Spa is a Good Excuse to Enjoy the Outdoors – For most people, the most practical space for a hot tub is in the yard or on a patio. Hot tubs can be used year-round, no matter the weather, and if it is installed under a gazebo, or porch roof, even in the rain and snow. No matter what the weather, getting out of the house, or other enclosed spaces like school and work buildings, is a healthy, invigorating thing that is good for the mind, body and spirit.

Where most of the time, people don’t think about going outside to relax, and instead settle onto the couch to watch television or play on gadgets, with a hot tub in the yard, they are drawn to the outdoors to enjoy fresh air, sunshine or any weather that is there, in a relaxing and luxurious atmosphere.

Hot Tubs Bring People Together – Because a hot tub is such a desirable place, everyone, young and old are drawn to it. This draws everyone in the house, and friends or extended relatives over to it, so that people spend more time communicating and enjoying each other’s company.

A hot tub becomes a social place where people in the family and friends circle can talk about issues and forget about life’s worries.

Hot Tubs Help People Lose Weight – Soaking in a hot tub regularly can help people lose unwanted pounds. Losing weight as many people know is one of the top New Year’s Resolutions every year It’s also one of the top three resolutions to fail within the first few weeks. It doesn’t have to be, however. Soaking in a hot tub increases blood flow, lowers blood sugar and elevates dopamine for a sense of well-being, all of which help increase both the desire to lose weight and the will to lose weight while also setting the body up to be able to lose weight easier.

To encourage local residents to check out the benefits of using a hot tub, swim spa or sauna to help improve their overall health and well-being, Spa and Sauna Company is providing free hot tub and swim spa test soaks. They do recommend, however, that people wanting to schedule their free 30-minute soak call them ahead of time to reserve their spot.

How Do I Find A Hot Tub Electrician?

Thursday, January 24th, 2019

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

Here at The Spa and Sauna Company, we specialize in selling and maintaining hot tubs.

We will deliver your hot tub, but we do not hook up your hot tub to an electrical source.

As a courtesy, we will help you find an electrician, or a crane operator, or a concrete contractor, if you need one.

Electrician

After being in business for nearly 30 years, we have delivered our share of hot tubs.

Most customers only require an electrician. Some customers need a concrete pad poured still. The occasional hot tub delivery, and most swim spa deliveries, require a crane.

Regardless of what you need, we are here to help. We want your hot tub or swim spa delivery to be as relaxing as possible.

For that reason, we have compiled a referral list of electricians, concrete contractors, and crane operators that we have worked with previously. Those that we feel are the best are on our referral list.

Should you need help finding an electrician, crane operator, or concrete contractor for your hot tub or swim spa installation, we will gladly share our list of vendors with you.

All you need to do is call our Customer Engagement Representative, Delivery Supervisor, or your Salesperson, and ask for the list.

Here are a few helpful hints. Have your electrical box installed prior to the delivery. Your electrician doesn’t need to be present for the delivery. Ask them to come back after the hot tub or swim spa has been filled to do the final connection.

We hope this has helped make getting your new hot tub a bit easier.

What is the Perfect Hot Tub?

Thursday, January 17th, 2019

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

What is the perfect hot tub? Well, the answer is different for everyone and depends on quite a few factors. In fact, the BETTER question is, what is the perfect hot tub for YOU?

We have a short quiz, developed by our team of Hot Tub Experts, that can help our team of professionals get you in YOUR Perfect Hot Tub!

Height

How tall is the tallest person in your family?

Hot Tubs come in a variety of heights. Some are more comfortable for very tall people, while others are more comfortable for people under 6 feet tall.

While the best way to tell what is most comfortable for you is to actually get in a hot tub you are considering, the height of your tallest family members will help us pinpoint some hot tub models to start with.

Health Concerns

Does anyone who will be using the hot tub have Insomnia, Back Pain, Arthritis, or Sports Injuries?

Certain hot tubs have specialized jets designed specifically for certain areas of the body. Knowing what your biggest health concern is will help us determine if you would like hot tub circuit therapy or other special hot tub features related to jet placement and strength.

Number of People Who Will Use The Hot Tub

Is the hot tub just for you? For you and your partner? For you and a large family or all of your friends?

This question is so obvious, but it’s crucial to narrowing down your choices to what will fit your needs best.

Our hot tubs can accommodate 1 to 8 people. The choice of how many people you want in there is completely up to you!

Budget

This also helps us narrow down your choices significantly and direct you to a hot tub in your desired price range. New hot tubs are available starting at about $2,999.

Here are your choices:

Most Affordable or Used ($2,999 – $4,999)

Value on a Budget ($5,000 – $9.999)

Most Popular ($9,000 – $12,499)

With Bells & Whistles ($12,500 +)

Special Features

Finally, are you looking for any special features? Most hot tubs come with some lighting options, some have music available, and others have Salt Water Systems. Do any of those interest you?

To take the Perfect Hot Tub Quiz, Click Here. You won’t regret it.

Should I Buy a Used Pool Table from Craigslist?

Friday, January 11th, 2019

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

You’ve decided you want to buy a pool table. Maybe you’re not ready to commit to a big purchase, so you start searching Craigslist.

After a minute or two of searching, you see this ad.

used pool table ad

Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? But what if the pockets are ripped? What if there are holes in the felt? That could be costly to repair.

How are you even going to get it home?

We at The Spa and Sauna Co. aren’t going to tell you that you shouldn’t buy a pool table on Craigslist, or from any other second-hand outlet, but we do want to share some helpful buying tips, so you can enjoy your purchase.

Before you buy a pool table off a site like Craigslist, or from any individual seller, there are a number of things you will want to consider.

  1. Do you know how big of a pool table your room can accommodate? Pool tables are typically 7”, 8” or 9”. If you don’t know how large your room needs to be to fit a pool table, Click Here for a blog that will give you the dimensions you need.
  2. Make sure you are purchasing a quality table. The seller should know the brand, and possibly the model, of the pool table.
  3. Is the pool table in good repair? You can check this in a variety of ways. You should test the rails by rolling a ball hard at each rail and making sure it bounces back three to four times on all sides. Check the felt and pockets for holes or rips.
  4. Is it a slate bed or a wood bed pool table? You can tell by the sound it makes when you knock on the felt. If it is slate, it will be a higher pitch knocking sound. If it is wood, it’s going to sound like lower, similar to the sound when you knock on a wooden door. If you are looking for a high-quality pool table, we recommend purchasing a slate pool table. Wood can warp, which doesn’t make for the best playing experience.
  5. How is the construction underneath? If it’s metal, you might want to move on. You should see at least one wooden beam underneath the table, if it is of good quality.
  6. Finally, what comes with it? Are there cues, brushes, balls, ball racks included with it? Or will you need to purchase those items separately?

If you do decide to purchase a used pool table, we can help you move it to the new location with experienced, professional installers. You can also make sure they level the table for you, so you have the best possible play experience. Click here to request a pool table set up, move or refelt.

Finally, if you’re more comfortable buying from an authorized pool table dealer, please know that, at The Spa and Sauna Co., we carry new and used pool tables. A play kit and delivery is included.

For more information on our used and entry-level pool tables, which start at about $1,999, Click Here.

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

The Spa and Sauna Co. is proud to announce that it has added two showrooms to The Spa and Sauna Family.

Hot Spring Spas of Santa Cruz and Hot Spring Spas of San Jose, both previously operated by Patrick Carstens and his V.P. Lynda Sisk, are now owned and operated by The Spa and Sauna Co., led by Company Owners Scott Clark and Shelley Ingram-Clark.

The Hot Spring Spas of Santa Cruz and San Jose showrooms have a 40-plus year history in the Santa Cruz and San Jose, California markets and are known as the industry leaders in the areas they serve. They specialize in Hot Spring Spas and Endless Pools, as well as Covana Covers for Endless Pools, and will soon add Big Green Egg Barbecues and Finnleo Saunas to the mix.

All of these products are well-known by The Spa and Sauna Company, as their Nevada showrooms have been carrying them for many years.

“We are so glad to bring Hot Spring Spas of Santa Cruz and San Jose into The Spa and Sauna Co. family,” said new owner Scott Clark. “When I first started selling hot tubs, over 30 years ago, I was working in Greater Bay Area and we started our business in San Jose, in 1990, so this has really come full circle.”

While their core products, Hot Springs Spas, Fantasy Spas and Endless Pools, will remain unchanged, Clark is excited to bring The Spa and Sauna Co. marketing and management techniques to the California-based Hot Tub showrooms.

“We are pleased to let you know that we will continue to offer the same great products, and sell and service the same great products. Best of all, the entire team at Hot Spring Spas of Santa Cruz and San Jose has been retained and is poised to grow,” said Clark.

“After 43 years of being in this incredible industry, we have realized it’s time to retire! Patrick and I will miss our wonderful staff, the many industry companions we have made and mostly our customers,” said V.P./General Manager Lynda Sisk as a farewell on their Google My Business page, just before the sale was finalized. “Thank you for making this such an enjoyable business and for all of your support. We have sold the business to another Hot Spring dealer who has been in the industry since 1990 and will continue to provide you with the quality service and products you have come to expect. Happy Hot tubbing!”

Custom Vs. PreFab Saunas

Thursday, January 3rd, 2019

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

Saunas can be a complicated purchasing decision. You might have a lot of questions.  Here, at The Spa and Sauna Company, we do our best to educate our customers and make that decision a bit easier.

So, after you’ve decided you want a sauna, it’s time to decide if you are looking for a pre-built or custom sauna AND if you want a Traditional or Infrared sauna, or an InfraSauna, which is a combination of the two.

Keep in mind, there is no right or wrong type of sauna. It’s truly a matter of personal preference.

Traditional Vs. Infrared (Far-Infrared) Saunas

We find most often, here at The Spa and Sauna Company, that men tend to prefer a Traditional Sauna experience, which is more ritualistic experience that includes pouring water over hot stones to create steam and enhance humidity. In our experience, women tend to prefer an Infrared Sauna, which heat up quicker, using radiant heat, and don’t require any pouring of water.

Interestingly, couples tend to purchase InfraSaunas, which allow people to have either traditional or infrared sauna experience, depending on their needs at the time.

However, what we have found, at The Spa and Sauna Company, is that people tend to be happier with the purchase of a Traditional Sauna because they get hotter than Infrared Saunas do.

Click Here to learn more about if you want a traditional or infrared sauna.

Pre-Built Saunas

Now, the decisions relating to custom vs. pre-built and traditional vs. infrared often come together at the same time.

Let’s explain the differences between Custom and Pre-Built Saunas.

Pre-Built or Pre-Fabricated Saunas are just that. They are free standing saunas that come ready made for you and ready to go into your home. While you can still incorporate these units to look like they are “built-in,” you should be aware that they are made in advance, to suit most people’s needs. They are not customized.

One benefit of a pre-built sauna is that they can be disassembled and moved if necessary.

Pre-Built Saunas can be Traditional, Infrared or Infra Saunas.

When considering a pre-built Infrared Sauna, we encourage you to keep in mind that Low EMF/EMR saunas are available in the B and S Series of Finnleo Pre-Fabricated saunas. Their EMF/EMR ratings are among the lowest in the Sauna Industry. S Series Saunas from Finnleo have the most features.

Both Series of Finnleo Saunas are available from The Spa and Sauna Company.

Custom Saunas

A Custom Cut Sauna can be built exactly to the specifications of your house and transform any location in your home into a sauna. You could even put it in an old, unused closet. As the name indicates, custom is specifically made for you and is typically a larger investment because of that. Detailed blueprints and close work with a Sauna Expert at The Spa and Sauna Company is required.

Custom Saunas can be Traditional, Infrared or Infra Saunas.

Regardless of the type of Sauna you choose, all saunas offer health and wellness benefits including:

Stress relief; Relaxed muscles; Soothed aches and pains; Flushed toxins; Improved cardiovascular performance; Illness prevention; Time for self-reflection; and A place for recreational and social benefits

We hope this information has made your search for a sauna a bit easier!

Local Veteran Awarded Free Hot Tub as a Thank You for His Service!

The Spa and Sauna Co., spa manufacturer Sundance Spas, and the charity Wish for Our Heroes teamed up in May 2018 to award a local veteran, Daniel Rogers, a free Sundance spa as a small thank you for his military service.

Daniel, a husband and father of two, is a 9-year member of the Nevada Army National Guard and has been on two year-long deployments overseas and a training mission in Haiti. During his mission in Haiti, his wife, Michelle Rogers, was pregnant with their daughter. During his first deployment, to Afghanistan, Michelle was pregnant with their son, who was born 5 days before Daniel returned home.

On the spa delivery day, Michelle said “It’s surreal that we have a hot tub in our backyard that we won for free.”

The family of 4 now uses their hot tub multiple times a day for relaxation, family time and pain relief. To read more and watch the video from the day of installation, Click Here.

How Much Does it Cost To Buy a Hot Tub?

So you’re flirting with the idea of owning your very own hot tub. Most of us want access to as much information on a product before we have a discussion with a retailer, so it’s understandable that you’d wonder why we don’t post hot tub pricing online.

Part of our dealer agreements with our hot tub manufacturers prohibits us from posting exact hot tub pricing online. What we can tell you is that, at The Spa and Sauna Company, our new hot tubs range from $3,000 to $20,000, meaning there truly is a hot tub for everyone. In addition to new models, we also offer pre-owned hot tubs, perfect for any budget, and occasionally at less than $3,000. Pool tables come in a variety of sizes to accommodate rooms of various sizes. However, you need to make sure that more than just your table will fit in your room. You also need to be able to fit your pool cues with room to move them comfortably, without hitting windows, while playing.

The smallest room you would ever want to put a pool table in is 11’6” x 14’6”. That would accommodate a 7’ pool table, with a short 48” cue. However, a slightly larger room at 12’ x 15’ would allow for that table with a 52” cue, while 13’ x 16’ would allow for a 7’ table with a standard size 58” pool cue.
