3 Quick Ways to Relieve Pain – Hot Tubs, Swim Spas Sunnyvale

Saturday, September 28th, 2019

The Spa and Sauna Company, a five-store hot tub and swim spa dealer with showrooms in San Jose and Santa Cruz publishes 3 Quick Ways to Relieve Pain.

“People who have pain that lasts for longer than 6 months likely have a form of chronic pain, and during September, they can find new ways to deal with it,” said Scott Clark, president of The Spa and Sauna Company. Pain awareness month is a great time to help people identify the type of pain they have and find ways to treat it and live with it more effectively.

Here are three quick ways to relieve pain and make life easier.

Swim Away Pain with a Swim Spa – While physical activity can be daunting when dealing with severe pain, it is a great way to engage the muscles and joints and get them moving more freely. Exercise encourages more blood flow to injured areas, and increases the hormone oxytocin in the brain, so people feel better emotionally as well.

Swimming is one of the best types of exercise for people who deal with all of the various types of pain, and a swim spa makes it easier to get in that exercise regularly. Swim spas can be set up in even a small yard, or on a patio near the home, so it’s easy to swim at any time of the day.

The strong, swim current keeps people in place as they move through the strokes, and even do aqua aerobic exercises. Swim spas can also be fitted with underwater treadmills, allowing for the muscle and aerobic exercise of walking without the strain from impact on pavement.

A hot tub section at one end of the swim spa adds extra hydrotherapy benefits for sore, tired muscles, pain and stress relief.

Breathing Exercises that Help with Pain – Focusing on breathing can take the mind off of pain and help people who deal with chronic pain. While engaging in slow, focused breathing, people can also increase the benefits for pain relief by using imagery and positive self-talk to re-direct the mind and change the way they experience pain.

Self-talk involves turning the way people think about their pain from constantly feeling anxiety and telling themselves how horrible the pain is, to soothing comments such as, the pain will subside, and what can be done to help.

The Power of Pets and Pain Relief – Pets can help people deal with many things in life including pain. Not only can simply petting a beloved dog or cat help soothe nerves, having a pet can give people the incentive to get up and move, in order to care for their pet, feed them, or walk the dog. Having a pet is also distracting, so people can take their mind off of themselves and the pain. Dogs and cats aren’t the only animals that are therapeutic. Even fish can help people with pain reduce the stress and anxiety associated with their illness, or deal with the depression and feeling of isolation it can cause.

To encourage local residents to check out the benefits of using a hot tub, swim spa or sauna to help improve their overall health and well-being, Hot Spring Spas of San Jose and Santa Cruz is providing free hot tub and swim spa test soaks. They do recommend, however, that people wanting to schedule their free 30-minute soak call them ahead of time to reserve their spot.

Do I Need a New Hot Tub Cover?

Wednesday, September 25th, 2019

By Laura Varnon, Marketing Coordinator

Is your hot tub cover over a few years old? Is it starting to look a bit worn from the weather and sun exposure? It might be time for a new hot tub cover!

And, we have developed a few indicators you can look for to see if your hot tub cover does need replacing.

Hot Tub Cover Condition

Hot Tub Covers degrade over time, and that’s normal. Hot Tub Covers are designed to last for about 3 to 5 years.

If you add a Cover Cover, which is available for purchase here, you can add years of life to your cover. You can also regularly treat your hot tub cover with 303 Protectant, to protect it from the sun’s UV rays. 303 Protectant also keeps dirt off of your cover and keeps it looking fresh. 303 Protectant can be purchased at any of our showrooms.

We sell replacement hot tub covers at all of our locations in Reno, Sparks, San Jose and Santa Cruz. If you are looking for a replacement cover, click here and select where your cover will be delivered to, fill out the form and one of our team members will be in touch to help you get a replacement hot tub cover.

Vinyl

Check your vinyl for signs of: Dryness, Brittleness, Dirt, Tears, Cracks.

Any and all of these symptoms might mean that it is time for a new cover. Changes in these conditions will affect the look, safety and heat retention abilities of your cover.

Hinges and Hinge Gaskets (or Shoes)

Heat can escape from a torn hinge, which might result in heat loss from your hot tub. A new cover keeps your hot tub hot and ready to use at any time.

If your hinge gasket, or shoes, are torn, damaged or missing, heat will leave your hot tub rapidly. Be sure to get that repaired or replaced, especially if you want to get into a nice, hot, hot tub during the long Reno/Tahoe winter months.

Straps and Locks

If your hot tub cover straps and locks are torn, broken, rusted or even missing, that is something you should take care of right away. Not only is it unsightly, but it can be a safety concern, especially around children and pets.

Foam Cores

This is the most important part of your hot tub cover. Over time the foam core can sag, which will create a gap in your heat seal, leaving your hot tub less hot).

Here are a few things to look out for related to your foam core, and indicating that you need a new hot tub cover:

You see puddles on top of your hot tub cover.

You notice that your hot tub cover has become much heavier over time.

There might even be an odor, if your cover has absorbed water.

How to Keep Your Hot Tub Cover (and your Hot Tub) Healthy

Treat your hot tub cover to a regular dose of 303 Cover Protectant. This will keep the Vinyl healthy. You can do this about once a month, when you change your filter. Caring for your hot tub cover properly can extend its lifespan.

Be sure to get a new hot tub cover every 3 to 5 years, or if your hot tub cover has been damaged. Caring for all of the parts of your hot tub, including the hot tub cover, will create a more enjoyable hot tub experience.

Add More Luxury to Your Spa, Hot Tubs Capitola

Monday, August 26th, 2019

Want to be sure you are getting the best experience from your hot tub? All you need to do to enjoy the soothing environment of your hot tub is slip into the water. However, there are some things you can do to make your time in the hot tub even more relaxing and fun.

Here are three ways to add more luxury to your hot tub.

Create a Floating Food and Drink Station in Your Hot Tub
There are several ways you can make food and drink access easier in your hot tub for yourself and your loved ones. There are floating refreshment trays that have cup holders to keep drinks level and out of the water, and hold small plates of food for everyone to enjoy as they soak. You can also choose to add edge trays to your portable spa to keep food and drinks close at hand, so no one has to jump out of the water to get some refreshments.

The best beverage to have on hand for hot tub enjoyment is water. Water will keep you and the people you share the hot tub with hydrated, so you can enjoy soaking longer. Best of all, it doesn’t have sugar in it. Be wary of having sugary drinks around the hot tub. Even when they are on the tray or in the proper holders, spills are possible, and sugar and hot tub filters do not get along well. Of course, an accidental spill won’t destroy your hot tub, but it will make for a little extra maintenance cleaning.

Keep snacks light too, so you and your guests aren’t too full to enjoy your time in the water. Finger sandwiches, small bite-sized treats and snacks are best for keeping around the hot tub to increase the fun and enhance the luxurious atmosphere.

Watch Your Video, Movie or TV Show
Enjoy live TV, stream video and more from inside your spa or while entertaining in your backyard.

With HDMI convenience, you can add a streaming stick or connect to any of your in-home video sources for a range of programming options.

Warm or Cool – It’s Your Choice!
With the CoolZone System, you can heat and cool the water – something that is not possible with most spas. Enjoy a cool dip during the day and warm soak later that night.

The CoolZone system works with your spa’s heater to efficiently raise the temperature in just a few hours.

So Go Ahead, Take a Soak, You Deserve It!
It’s fast, fun and relaxing. Not only that, it’s good for the body, soothes the mind and can improve your overall health and well-being.

To encourage local residents to check out the benefits of using a hot tub to help improve their overall health and well-being, The Spa and Sauna Company is providing free test soaks at all their showrooms. We do recommend, however, that people wanting to schedule their free 30-minute soak call us ahead of time to reserve their spot.

A swim spa is all that’s necessary for getting in a great workout in the backyard. Swimming and aerobic exercises are both excellent choices for people of all ages and physical conditions. Water aerobic exercises are also great therapy for individuals recovering from illness or injury. With a hot tub added to one end of the swim spa people can enjoy the added benefits of added benefits of hydrotherapy and deep muscle massage for aching joints and muscles. The biggest benefit of the dual section combo unit is that the hot tub section can be heated to the desired therapy level leaving the swim spa side at a comfortable swimming temperature.

Adding a Hot Tub for Extra Luxury
Of course, a swim spa alone is a luxurious and entertaining piece of equipment but having a hot tub addition incorporated into the unit offers up a more lavish atmosphere for the family to enjoy.

Hot Tubs, Swim Spas Capitola Spa Dealer Shares Tips for Romance Awareness Month

Monday, August 26th, 2019

The Spa and Sauna Company, a five-store hot tub, swim spa and sauna dealer with showrooms in San Jose and Santa Cruz publishes 3 Ways to Build Romantic Relationships.

“August is romance awareness month and a great time to take stock of relationships and see where there is room for improvement,” said Scott Clark, president of The Spa and Sauna Company. Here are three ways of building romantic relationships that are easy to do for everyone.

Bubble Up Romance with a Hot Tub – Bubbling water is naturally romantic and having a hot tub in the backyard or on a patio provides the luxurious atmosphere that will make every night a sensuous getaway at home. It doesn’t take long to install a portable spa and soaking in a hot tub relieves stress and tensions and makes having relaxed conversations easier. Cozying up in the soothing, warm water offers a great way to get comfortable and enjoy time with a partner.

A hot tub is ready fast and stays at the perfect temperature for as long as desired. When looking for a hot tub, choose those that offer adjustable pressure and positioning of jets so that they can be set to soothe sore muscles after a long day.

Plan Fun Activities Together – It’s easy for couples to get into a rut as life goes on. Keep things interesting by learning new things or developing new skills together. Find interests that both people in the partnership enjoy and take a class or practice old skills to sharpen them.

Another way couples can get closer is to keep up with existing hobbies and spend time together enjoying them. Plan a weekend getaway to a resort or go camping. Take a dance class. It isn’t necessary to wait for a weekend either. Doing little fun activities all week long is a great way to keep romance alive in a relationship.

Even just going to the gym together, instead of going at different times, is a great way to have fun together all through the week. There are endless ways couples can spend fun time together that aren’t expensive but will do wonders for their relationships.

Do Mundane Things Together – Nothing makes one person in a relationship feel unappreciated more than having to do all the chores alone, even if the other person in the relationship is doing another of the necessary, but less fun parts of daily life. Keep the flame alive by showing how much the other person is appreciated by helping and doing chores alongside them instead of separately.

Don’t forget that a little touch, smile or hug adds a lot to activities that are not always fun but need to get done. Giving a partner a hug, or touching their hand while doing the dishes together, or when passing in a hallway will make doing chores more fun and keep the romance alive no matter what is going on.

How Hot Tubbing Can Enhance Your Workout

Wednesday, August 14th, 2019

Soaking in a hot tub before and after exercising helps heal sore muscles by using heat therapy.
Here are some reasons why we believe using your hot tub will help you prepare and recover from exercise, which is part of a healthy, wellness-based lifestyle.

  • A short hot tub soak before exercising to help loosen up your muscles. You can also do some light stretching in your hot tub.
  • A short soak after exercise will help you relax and jump-start the healing and recovery process. You might want to also do some stretching, or even take a short walk as part of your cool-down routine.

For more information and health tips to help you have the best workout possible, read the original article here on Hot Spring Spas’ official website. The original article was first published online at HotSpringSpas.com.

Boost Fitness With 20 Minutes A Day in Santa Clara Hot Tub or Portable Spa

Tuesday, July 30th, 2019

These days, maximizing health is a top priority for most people. We watch what we eat, exercise regularly and try our best to make good wellness decisions. A strong, healthy body and mind promote longevity, and that comes from physical and mental fitness.

Here’s how to spend 20 minutes a day in the hot tub to boost fitness.

Take a Dip to Relieve Stress
Controlling stress is an important priority, but something most of us fail to do well. Stress plays a pivotal role in physical health, and left untreated, can trigger diabetes, heart problems, even depression. The hot tub is a smart, practical way to keep high levels of stress in check, easing tension and anxiety with high-powered jet massage. A few minutes relaxing each day can improve productivity, improve your mood and leave you refreshed and revitalized.

Ease Pain, Reduce Stiffness for Better Workouts
Aches and pains impact everyone, whether it’s a serious condition or just simple overuse. Finding relief isn’t always easy, and many of us turn to over the counter medication for help. A hot tub offers a safe, simple alternative. Soaking in heated water before working out warms the muscles in preparation for exercise, and soothes stiff, overworked muscles after exercise. With regular use, flexibility, endurance and range of motion increase, making your workout easier and more productive.

Jumpstart Cardiovascular Health
Regular physical activity is a key part of ensuring a healthy cardiovascular system. But soaking in the elevated heat of a hot tub can help too. It has to do with heat, and how core body temperature increases as you soak. The body responds by increasing heart rate and blood circulation – the same physiological changes that occur during light cardiovascular exercise. A relaxing soak feels great, but is also a smart, heart healthy activity too!

Reduce Back Pain, Relax & Massage in a Lap Pool – Swim Spa Sale Santa Clara, Exercise Spas

Tuesday, July 30th, 2019

An alarming amount of people deal with chronic back pain. Whether it’s a chronic condition, or just something temporary, relieving pain is a top priority. Medication can work, but the results are often brief, and not always safe. Why not explore an all-natural approach?

Here’s how the swim spa offers the best of both worlds for back pain – a machine for swimming and hydrotherapy in one.

Swim Without Hitting the Wall
When the muscles in the back hurt, easy, cushioned movement is always a good choice. Water is naturally buoyant, meaning you can stretch, move and even swim laps without feeling pain or discomfort. Over time, movement reduces back stiffness, while toning and strengthening back muscles relieving pain and increasing flexibility. With an adjustable current, the swim spa allows freestyle swimming without ever hitting the wall or having to turn around.

Hot Tub Hydrotherapy
A relaxing soak in the hot tub is a great way to stop back pain in its tracks. Luckily, many swim spa models offer two machines in one: a lap pool at one end, and a hot tub spa at the other. With targeted massage and heat, pain slips away instantly, leaving you refreshed, reenergized and ready to face the day. Use the swim spa for pain relief in the morning, after a long day, or in preparation for a deep, pain free sleep.

Aquatic Exercise to Increase Flexibility, Range of Motion
There’s a reason why health care practitioners refer patients with back pain to aquatic exercise – it works. Water is a safe, cushioned environment, making movement easy and pain free. With resistance bands, underwater treadmills and more, a swim spa brings a complete aquatic fitness center to your doorstep for anytime use. Over time, and with frequent use, the swim spa makes back pain less frequent as flexibility and range of motion increase naturally.

So Go Ahead, Take a Swim, You Deserve It!
It’s, fast, fun and relaxing. Not only that, it’s good for the body, soothes the mind and can improve your overall health and well-being.

To encourage local residents to check out the benefits of using a swim spa to help improve their overall health and well-being, The Spa and Sauna Company is providing free swim spa test soaks at all their showrooms. We do recommend, however, that people wanting to schedule their free 30-minute test call us ahead of time to reserve their spot.

3 Ways to Enjoy a Reno Backyard Hot Tub or Portable Spa

Tuesday, July 30th, 2019

One of the great benefits of a hot tub is that people can regulate both temperature and the strength of the jets to create the ultimate style of enjoyment they desire. Hot tubs offer homeowners many ways to create the perfect setting for different styles of enjoyment.

Here are 3 ways to get the most out of a backyard hot tub.

Relax with Family and Friends
Relaxation is one of the first things people may think about when they consider adding a hot tub to the yard or a patio. People automatically gather around the swirling water and it makes a great party feature as well as a place to simply unwind and spend time with loved ones.

Relieve Aches and Pains
Hot tubs are hard to beat when it comes to relieving all types of aches and pains. The heat and massage help bring blood flow to the area to help the body heal. Sore muscles, arthritis pain or general aches usually are relieved better by a strong, pulsating massage, whereas sprains or other injuries may feel better with a gentle, easy massage power from the hot tub’s jets.

Rest and Destress from a Long Day
Having a hot tub available right in the backyard makes it simple and easy to simply rest and relieve the stress of a long, hard day. In addition, soaking for just a few minutes every evening before bed helps people get to sleep faster and sleep better, so they are prepared for the day ahead. Set the temperature to a medium range with a soothing, mid-level jet power and let the day’s worries and stress just melt away each night.

So Go Ahead, Take a Soak, You Deserve It!
It’s fast, fun and relaxing. Not only that, it’s good for the body, soothes the mind and can improve your overall health and well-being.
